What is the SmartWay Transport Partnership

Published by tjusa under General News

 SmartWay

Trucking companies are becoming more and more environmentally conscious as well as fiscally conscious. These days the two go hand in hand with rising fuel costs. The SmartWay Transport Partnership as it pertains to the trucking industry is a program that provides the trucking industry with EPA certified vehicles that are equipped and outfitted at the point of sale with equipment that significantly reduces fuel usage and makes trucks operate more efficiently.  Being a SmartWay partner not only identifies the trucking company or truck manufacturer as someone who cares about the future of the environment but it also shows the management of that company is searching for ways to operate more efficiently and to reduce overall costs.

A movement that several years ago was criticized as something put together by “environmentalist wackos ” has now become good business and well accepted in the transportation industry.

Don’t Text and Drive

Published by tjusa under General News

It used to be “don’t drink and drive.” That still holds true but now there is something on the road even more dangerous than a driver who has been drinking. Texting and Driving is a greater threat to other drivers than drinking and driving.  This finding is according to research done by the British Transport Research Laboratory (TRL).

TRL has found that control of steering is practically zip while texting with 91% worse than normal steering control. Those who have been found to be smoking marijuana only had a 35% worse than normal steering ability. Reaction speeds are slower and drifting across lanes happens at a greater frequency. Following distances were also greatly compromised as focus is on the screen of the phone and not on the vehicle in front of the driver.

Then end conclusion of the study by the TRL is DONT TEXT AND DRIVE.
