Tarps are a necessity for trucks; especially if you drive a truck that has an exposed load. A good tarp can protect your load as well as offer protection for the cars and trucks around you on the highway.
Qaulity is important when selecting a truck tarp, especially if you are on the road continously. Affordability is another important factor when purchasing a truck tarp. In the long run it is better to invest in the highest quality tarp that will last an extendend period of time over one that is cheap and will have to be replaced quickly. While searching for truck tarps I found quite a few companies that specialize in tarps and coverings. With hundreds of selections it is important to research and find out which ones are made of quality material and are durable. Ask other drivers who use them day in and day out. They will tell you very quickly which ones to stay away from.
Truck tarps are an important part of your trucking operations, make sure you have a quality covering when needed.

Truckers insurance is one of the most important things to consider when you are a professional over the road truck driver. It is your safety net if something should happen to your rig, especially if you are an independent operator. There are several things to consider when you are purchasing trucking insurance such as how your premiums will be determined as well as how you will rate in comparison to other truckers and specific demographics.
Some things that are considered by trucking insurance companies are the drivers age, years of experience, how long the driver has been employed, how many minor moving violations as well as the number of major violations (usually within the last 3 years). Also a major consideration is total number of accidents and losses.
Your DOT safety record will weigh in on how a driver rates. If you have a violation of some kind it is important as a truck driver to do all that can be done to ensure it stays off of your driving record. Companies like Drivers Legal Plan and Interstate Trucker can assist with that.
When selecting your trucking insurance company be sure to look at them very close. Do some research and find out how they respond when they are called upon to deliver. Ask your older more experienced fellow truck drivers who have been in the trucking business a long time what their experience has been. Many times a driver who has been on the road for 30 or more years has a wealth of knowledge and they are usually a good source of referral information.
Above all be safe while on the road. Hopefully you will never need to use your trucking insurance, but if you do, you should be able to rest easy in knowing your truck has the best insurance coverage possible.

In today’s economy it seems layoffs are a daily event. Each evening the news gives the new numbers of job losses and to some it seems there is no end in sight. While job losses and workforce reductions increase across the board, there is one industry that is wide open and has thousands of openings. Over the road professional truck drivers are in high demand. Today’s truck driver is a professional driving a state of the art truck complete with GPS, onboard computer system, satellite communications and 650 horsepower. Today’s truck driver comes from all walks of life and they all have one thing in common; a CDL. Every truck driver has to have a commercial drivers license and that is the starting point for a new career.
Professional truck drivers can make a good income, with some specialties earning as much as $100,000 a year. Empty nesters are also finding second careers as team truck drivers. The kids are grown and out of college and now parents can get their CDL and see the country while delivering a truck load of goods and get paid to do it.
So if you are facing a potential “pink slip” consider a future as a truck driver. Trucking jobs are easy to find and the pay is good.

Trucking companies are becoming more and more environmentally conscious as well as fiscally conscious. These days the two go hand in hand with rising fuel costs. The SmartWay Transport Partnership as it pertains to the trucking industry is a program that provides the trucking industry with EPA certified vehicles that are equipped and outfitted at the point of sale with equipment that significantly reduces fuel usage and makes trucks operate more efficiently. Being a SmartWay partner not only identifies the trucking company or truck manufacturer as someone who cares about the future of the environment but it also shows the management of that company is searching for ways to operate more efficiently and to reduce overall costs.
A movement that several years ago was criticized as something put together by “environmentalist wackos ” has now become good business and well accepted in the transportation industry.
